I thought Fiat's Miata would be an Alfa Romeo? Well, no. Shown on the Los Angeles Autoshow was the upcoming 2017 Fiat 124 Spider, made by Mazda in Hiroshima for FCA.
I love the design, I love the name... although it's difficult for me to think of it as a "real" Fiat (because it, well, isn't!). Hopefully it will be done in a few different scales for us collectors to get.
How strange is that in countries like the US, Fiat cars will be the 124 and the 500 (family). ÜberRetro!
The 124 Spider is longer than the Miata, and it has a turbo 1.4 litre engine from the Abarth 500. Read more on the differences between the Fiat and the Mazda here: So, just how different are the Fiat 124 Spider and Mazda MX-5 Miata?. The interiors are almost exactly the same!
