It is 1982 and the US auto industry leaves the 70's behind. Detroit fights back!

This great report from CNN on the current state, and near future of US car making includes interviews with the likes of Donald Petersen (President of Ford), Roger Smith (Chairman of GM), Henry Ford II, Doug Frazer (President of the UAW) and others impotant executives.

It dedicates an important section to how new cars are developed in Detroit, and another one on quality, and how the Japanese achieved it. Here they talk to Edward Deming. I knew of his role helping the Japanese raising the quality of their cars, but I had no idea he had become an industrial celebrity in the US in the 80's!
